When building links to a site, quantity is no longer the main factor.  Years ago google enacted a PR ranking to pages to prevent link spamming.  Earlier this year google had a crack down on many people’s PR dropping many by 1 or 2 points.

PR is measured by how many other sites with authority link to your site, in turn granting you a certain level of authority.  Back in the day people would use ffa pages, blog farming, and other spam techniques to rake in many links.  Now methods like that can get you banned and won’t help your PR at all.

When building links it is important to check the PR of the page where your link will go.  You can submit articles with your site in the info box, and also submit your site to directories.

Although reciprocal linking can help your PR, one way links are always looked upon better and give you more of a boost.
